The idea was created in 2004. First time dad Ben Gray invented the Doublewrap after the newborn fog had lifted, to solve the problems he came across settling baby William for sleep. It was difficult to wrap baby William with the typically small square fabric wraps, and he was often waking due to wrap escapades. Ben went to work to develop a more effective system of wrapping William for sleep that anyone would find easy.

Once Will was in a consistent sleeping pattern, Ben's wife Barbie McKee decided it was time to share the secret. A management consultant by trade she immediately secured someone with the skills to make it happen. Ben's cousin Nicole Amundsen with a background in fashion and textiles joined the team and the Doublewrap evolved.
